Thank you Victoria. You have now made my day. I'd love to see your and your husbands responses as well. If you have nowhere to post them online, feel free to drop them in the comments here. I was unaware that Cookie Monster had answered the questionnaire, but to be sure, I will be searching for that clip now.

I googled Proust's Questionaire since I was tired of Vanity Fair's version and stumbled upon your page - I wanted to ask my paramour the questions as he is dealing with a terminal disease and I was curious if his answers might have changed in the year since I had previously asked him - in so doing, I saw your answers - how very apt they are - how salient and perfect! Atticus Finch! but of course! And so many other answers showed such a good mind and soul. In fact, when Tom would say " Hmmm, I dunno" I would say "well, listen to this guy's answers, isn't that the best articulation of that thought or feeling?"
Jon, some made us laugh, like the answer about your appearance, and some were just brilliant in saying exactly what one thinks. So thank you for this page.
I only hope you have seen Cookie Monster answering a few of these queries on NPR, made me roar.
Hope you have all you could wish for, my friend, you have enhanced our evening no end.
All the best -
Victoria

[...] To help us maintain our fantasy world of individualistic isolated commercial success, we pretend to have relationships with people we do not know, people who do not even exist. We have relationships with other peoples carefully crafted personal marketing messages. We develop emotional connections with the marketing messages (blogs) or commercial output (oh, I meant to say ‘lovingly handcrafted art’ but then I threw up a little in my mouth) of complete strangers and fancy ourselves on the cutting edge of a glorious return to an idyllic cottage-industry past starring us, now, here.
Sounds delicious! I'll call you "Farmer Jon" if you'll serve a salad or two from that garden. Or, I'll just call you "Farmer Jon" anyhow. Got a good pair of overalls?

Kind regards,
Justis

No, Jessica, you're wrong. It will have an end.

Where do you expect this endless source of energy to come from? Surely not oil, I hope.

That's what everyone expects. They think oil is in endless supply and humans will just keep advancing and moving forward. When you run out, just go to the gas station and buy more!

One day it will run out, though. Well, maybe it won't ever fully run out, but it will eventually become so difficult to get that it's way too expensive, and useless. Then, what will people do? Most other sources of "alternative energy sources" use oil in some way to be produced.

Well, no oil. That means nothing modern. No electricity. No computers, no internet, no telephone, no television, nothing could be mass produced, no more air travel, or travel in any type of vehicle, and even many of the fertilizers we use contain it.

So running out of oil isn't just a matter of "Well damn, how will I get to the mall and back?" The whole world as we know it would be different, and maybe a bit like it was in the past.

I thought the article was very good. I thought it was very interesting how you pointed out that we are still in an industrial revolution in a way. Its true that mankind has not yet stopped developing new technology so I agree with you. I don't really think it will really ever have an end though, because scientists are constantly researching new ideas.
