Football fans in east London, which is to say everyone, will be on the edge of their seats this weekend, with both West Ham United and Leyton Orient in key relegation battles Saturday.

West Ham will take on bottom-place Watford in what is to be, according to Curbishley, a ‘defining match’. Now five points adrift of Wigan with only a dozen games in the season left to play, anything less than a win on Saturday will be seen by many as a sure sign that The Hammers will be playing in the Championship, not the Premiership next season.

Having not won a Premiership game since December 17th (against Manchester United, no less), there is little but grim determination around Green Street going into this vital clash.

Meanwhile, in League One, Leyton Orient head to Bournemouth only two points ahead of Cheltenham (and the drop zone). Moods around Brisbane Road seem to be a bit better however, as West Ham’s decision to drop interest in an Olympic stadium move has owner Barry Hearn thinking maybe his club should move in instead.

Regardless of who moves where stadium-wise, the important questions to be answered this weekend will be who moves where division-wise.
