As I work my way through the 101 in 1001 project, I am keeping track of my progress on an individual page for each task. However, I have made a lot of progress in the first month (out of about 32) of the project.

Here are thirteen things I have done this month to come closer to acheiving my goals:

  1. Taken Control of My Weight: I am on my way to my healthy weight, as I talked about in detail last week I continue to make progress, adjusting my diet as I go to be more well-rounded and healthier.
  2. Quit Smoking: I have put down my cigarettes, more than three weeks ago now; and given that I no longer crave one after meals, down the pub, or any other time really, I am willing now to declare victory.
  3. Eat On A Schedule: I am now eating breakfast on a regular basis for the first time in probably a decade. Not only do I feel better as a result, I have rediscovered a love of good breakfast foods; homemade hash browns, porridge, tofu scramble, etc…
  4. Mountain Biking: When we moved to London, one of the first things we did was buy bicycles to use as our primary transportation. As Winter set in, my riding dwindled to nothing, so I set myself the task of riding at least once a week, regardless of season. I got back in the saddle (literally) yesterday and discovered that Winter riding here is not so bad after all. As a matter of fact, I’m off after I post this for another ride; 7 miles into London for a photo shoot for another blog of mine.
  5. Philosophy Debate: I haven’t updated it’s page yet, but over the last week I accomplished the 101st goal on my list. I found and joined a local philosophy debate salon. Actually it was two of them, but I have yet to attend a meeting of the second one, specifically focused on the works of Karl Popper, the first is more general.
  6. en français: I have begun to gather the materials I will need in order to learn French.
  7. auf Deutsche: I have also gotten together the bits I will need to study German, though not at the same time as French…
  8. Travel plans: Quite a few of my tasks involve visiting particular cities in Europe and the Mid East. I have begun working out a schedule and budget that will allow me to actually accomplish these tasks in a mostly orderly fashion without going broke in the process.
  9. Various Media goals: In an orgy of acquisition, I have made pretty huge strides in all of the collecting/watching/listening goals. I plan on finishing up all of the Album related ones this coming month.
  10. Family & Friends: Though I have not created the individual pages yet for these, I have made good strides in telephoning my family and friends back home, and emailing everyone on a regular basis. Super-cheap international rates help!
  11. £1 per day: I am laying the ground work now for a month-long experiment to see if I can eat well on £1 per day. My plans are for my meals to be healthy, vegan, and 2000 calories per day. I think it can be done easily, but who knows…
  12. Poetry By Rote: I am starting into this project by memorizing Invictus, by William Ernest Henley. That accomplished, I am moving on to a bit of Dylan Thomas…
  13. Oscar Wilde in London: Not yet updated, but I have now been to the Oscar Wilde statue in London - quite possibly the creepiest statue in town, with the possible exception of some in the crypt at St. Paul’s

Interesting set of goals. I try to keep it down to 10 a year but I like your spunk.
