The temperatures are dropping, the rain is picking up, and the air has that unmistakable crispness to it (when it’s not raining, that is) that signals the arrival of Autumn and threatens the winter that comes after.
It was a couple of days ago that I first noticed the crispness, the snap to the air, and it brought back memories. you see, though I had been living in Myrtle Beach, SC for several years, I have always identified most with the place that I did most of my “growing up”; the college town of Boone in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. I realized that I had not experienced that fall crispness since leaving Boone.
In Myrtle Beach, Autumn is a slow slide from hot and humid to not so hot, but still humid. Not exactly what someone raised in the mountains would ever call a “season”. So I am pretty excited to have my Autumn “back”, and I am even happier to have my favorite thing about Autumn within close reach once again. Now, if the rain will let up a little bit, I can get some mountain biking in…
