FUD is propaganda, pure and simple. Some of it is anti-Linux propaganda, some of it is anti-everthing-else propaganda, and some of it is seemingly an ad hominem attack on some personality that is either a strong supporter of Linux or a very vocal detractor.
I will not play the propaganda game. Linux is not going to give your children better teeth nor is it going to get your whites whiter, and I’m not going to pretend that everyone should use it and love it and sing Kumbaya around the campfire.
While propaganda is always a dissapointing occurance, I am particularly dissapointed by those who in their zeal to defend Linux and Open Source from FUD spread by those who feel that they have something to lose if Linux were more widely used, resort to exactly the same kinds of silliness that originally got their dander up.
My job here is to cut through the propaganda, both for and against Linux, and (hopefully) give you a more realistic picture of what Linux is and does, and how it will or won’t be useful to you.
