What about Stay at Home People?

I have been reading quite a few SAHM and SAHD websites and blogs, and I don’t understand why children are necessary in order to have someone in a relationship or marriage stay at home and be responsible for the “domestic duties”. Is it such a horrible thing to not be burning your life away 40, 60, 80 hours a week for someone else in some horrible hermetically sealed office building or soulless storefront that the only possible reason anyone would do it is “for the children?” Is working really that cool?

I suppose that I am more disappointed than I am upset by the complete lack of people like me who are happy to be Stay At Home People. I don’t really understand why this is yet, but I will give it some thought…
